Astonished Realistic Reality To Us

#Afuni Kindly Let's Talk Something About Importance Of Glaciers For The Nature
Glaciers store about 69% of the world's freshwater, and if all land
ice melted the seas would rise about 230 feet¹ (70 meters)(NSIDC).
During the last ice age (when glaciers covered more land area than
today) the sea level was about 400 feet (122 meters) lower than it
is today. What are 3 important things about glaciers?
1) Glaciers are huge masses of ice that “flow” like very slow rivers
2) Glaciers form the largest reservoir of fresh water on the planet
3) Today, glaciers cover around 10% of the Earth's total land area
Why are glaciers important for the environment?
Glaciers act as reservoirs of water that persist through summer.
Continual melt from glaciers contributes water to the ecosystem
throughout dry months, creating perennial stream habitat and a
water source for plants and animals. The cold runoff from
glaciers also affects downstream water temperatures.
What are the economic importance of glacier?
In some semiarid areas, glaciers are of considerable economic
importance in the irrigation of crops. In mountainous areas
such as Switzerland, Norway, and Iceland, meltwater from
glaciers is critical to the economic generation of
hydroelectric power.
Do glaciers cool the Earth?
Why are glaciers important? Ice acts like a protective cover
over the Earth and our oceans. These bright white spots
reflect excess heat back into space and keep the planet
cooler. In theory, the Arctic remains colder than the
equator because more of the heat from the sun is reflected
off the ice, back into space.
What will happen if glaciers melt?
There is still some uncertainty about the full volume of
glaciers and ice caps on Earth, but if all of them were to
melt, global sea level would rise approximately 70 meters
(approximately 230 feet), flooding every coastal city on
the planet.
Glaciers In How Many Countries Found
Glaciers are present on every continent and in approximately
fifty countries, excluding those (Australia, South Africa)
that have glaciers only on distant subantarctic island
territories. Extensive glaciers are found in Antarctica,
Argentina, Chile, Canada, Alaska, Greenland and Iceland.
What countries are glaciers found?
Where are Earth's glaciers located?
91% in Antarctica.
8% in Greenland.
Less than 0.5% in North America (about 0.1% in Alaska)
0.2% in Asia.
Less than 0.1% are in South America, Europe, Africa,
New Zealand, and Indonesia.

At the top of our list is Iceland, known for having some
of the largest and most impressive glaciers in the world.
Presently, 11% of the land area of Iceland is covered by
ice. One of the best glaciers for hiking is Vatnajƶkull,
the largest glacier in Europe.
